Harcourt Arboretum

21st November 2013
Foundation visit Harcourt Arboretum.

What an amazing day - the children have all had an amazing time (and the grown ups had fun as well!) We arrived, wrapped up warm and prepared to explore. We met Lynne who told us about the resident peacocks. If we saw any we had to wave at them.

We were divided into 2 groups and given our jobs to do. One group went for an adventure with Lynne who helped us find the tallest tree in the Arboretum, the shorest tree, more peacocks, a christmas tree, a snake, a log pile house and even some lion, bear and Gruffalo footprints. In keeping with the Christmas theme we even found a tree that had the same name as our friend Holly and decorated the Arboretum christmas tree.
The other group collected treasure to make our christmas decorations with. We will be finishing them off this week so pop into our classrooms to see them next week.

Everyone had a chance to do everything
We collected leaves, feathers and all sorts of treasure. Lynne even showed us how to see if insects are having a party in a pine cone by knocking on the door to see if anyone is inside.

We climbed, balanced on bridges, splashed in puddles, waddled through mud and everyone had lots of huge smiles.
