Meeting Minutes

Tuesday 2nd June 2026

Today we met to evaluate our work from this year. We discussed and added feedback to the Monitoring and Evaluating section. We talked about how much we enjoyed David Attenborough Day, and how we feel that has been the biggest success of the year. We have seen how the plants are already blooming in the school grounds and are very happy! We also evaluated the three points on our Action Plan and discussed some of the things that we would like to achieve next year, such as building a pond and organising another whole school wildlife themed day! We hope to apply for our Green Flag in a couple of weeks.

Wednesday 6th May 2026

We enjoyed meeting to discuss our special David Attenborough Day which is happening on Friday 8th May! We ran through plans for the day and checked that all Eco Warriors knew what to do to help their class. We delivered plants to different classes and we gave the bat boxes and hedgehog houses ready to build to KS2 classes. We visited each area of the grounds that we are working on and took the 'before' photos! We can't wait until Friday!

Thursday 26th March 2026

During this meeting, we went through our plans for David Attenborough Day. We looked at the map that Violet created of the school grounds planting plan and spent time researching different websites to decide on what plants we wanted to purchase to help improve the biodiversity on site. We chose plants that we feel are good for butterflies, bees and other insects. We then visited Mrs Gardner (SLT) and shared our ideas. She was very impressed and is looking forward to the big day!

Wednesday 4th March 2026

Today, we met and discussed the Wild Challenges that we would like to complete as part of our David Attenborough Day plans. We visited the school grounds and walked around together to decide on what needs planting and improving. We wrote a list and sketched out maps.

February 2026

This month, all classes completed the RSPB Big School Birdwatch. All children from EYFS up to Year 6 have spent time outside looking for and listening to birds in the school grounds! We have enjoyed spotting wood pigeons, magpies, blackbirds, starlings and robins. Eco Committee will be uploading the results by the end of term.

Tuesday 2nd February 2026

Today, we tied up some loose ends. We reminded teachers that we need the RSPB Birdwatch results by the end of the term. We also discussed World Book Day, as after school, we will help with a second hand book and uniform sale to help reduce, reuse and recycle! We have made some exciting plans for May, when the whole school will be working on our We Are Environmentalists topic. Finally, we have selected our nominated Litter Monitors: Thomas K, Eleanor J, Sienna W, Elsie D, Arwen, Mason Z, Maia K, George PS and Seren.

January 2026

We have had a busy month, meeting several times to put together and practise our whole school assembly. We enjoyed delivering our  assembly where we shared our Environmental Review, Eco Code and up coming plans for the RSPB Birdwatch.

Tuesday 8th December 2025

Today we met and finished our Eco Code, ready to share with the school shortly. We finished our littering action plan and discussed our upcoming assembly. Parents and carers will be informed via a newsletter and on Dojo later this week. We have also signed up to the RSPB School Birdwatch and will share that with the school during our assembly in January.

Tuesday 25th November 2025

We have worked hard to make progress on our Action Plan and have lots of ideas for how to improve the school grounds and biodiversity. We have decided that we would like to raise money for a hedgehog charity, as hedgehogs are now endangered. Next time we meet we will finish our Action Plan and work on our Eco Code. Esmae and Poppy shared ideas they had worked on at home for Eco Committee as well.

Tuesday 11th November 2025

Today we finished our Environmental Review. We looked through the whole document and noticed positives and negatives. We discussed each area and decided on our three focus strands for this year: Biodiversity, School Grounds and Litter. We feel we can make lots of positive changes in these areas and are looking forward to writing our Action Plan.

Tuesday 21st October 2025

We held our first meeting today! We talked about how the Environmental Review works and how that leads to an Action Plan. We then began reviewing the first 5 strands of the Environmental Review.

September 2025

Mrs Barnes and Mrs Scovell led an assembly to explain about Eco Schools and forming an Eco Committee. Children then went away and wrote a speech about why they want to be an Eco Warrior! Classes then voted and our Eco team were elected. Children loved receiving their special Eco Warrior badges in Celebration Assembly.

Our Eco Code 2025 - 2026

David Attenborough Day - Friday 8th May

We had the most amazing day as the whole school, parent volunteers and staff enjoyed a day outside celebrating Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday! We plant over 100 different plants in the school grounds, created a new 'Wild Area,' sensory walkway, made bird feeders, a butterfly bar, hedgehog houses, bee houses, bat boxes and completed the RSBP Wild Challenge Bronze Award!

We are very proud to have been awarded a 'School for Nature' accolade this year, for completing the RSPB Wild Challenge Bronze Award! Every child in the school completed 6 challenges - 3 helping nature and 3 experiencing nature. Children completed challenges such as a Bio Blitz, Wild Writing, creating homes for mammals, making bird feeders, butterfly bars, insect hotels and planting a range of insect friendly plants.

We enjoyed presenting our assembly to the whole school, to let them know about the Bird Watch coming up and sharing our Eco Code. It was scary presenting to 300 children and staff but we did really well!
