Welcome to Years 1 and 2!

As our topic on Flight is drawing to an end we have been looking at space travel and rockets. For homework the children had to design what a space craft might look like in 100 years time. Some excellent ideas were given! Last week the children have been using their imagination and thinking about who might live in space and what they might look like. They have been writing stories about 'A Grand Day Out' in space.

On Monday 15th July is sports day starting at 9.15am. The weather looks to be very good so please ensure your child has a sunhat with them and high factor suncream on. Children need their trainers and a coloured t-shirt depicting which house they are in. We look forward to seeing as many parents as possible at the event and hopefully you will be able to stay for the picnic lunch.

This week we will be having class auditions for Gateway's Got Talent and one 'talented' child from each class will go through to the finals on Monday 22nd. This is a fun activity which the student council has organised.

This Wednesday is the last Forest School session for year 1s and the last swimming session for year 2s. Many thanks to those parents who have given up their time to help with these activities in both sunshine and in rain. It is very much appreciated as without your support and help we would not be able to do Forest School or swimming.
 

Just a reminder about PE.
Children need their shorts, t-shirts and plimsoles in school as well as outdoor games kit; jogging bottoms and top, trainers and socks. PLEASE could you check that your child's name is in their kit as well as sweat shirts. Biro names do tend to wash out so please could they be redone. Thankyou!

Games -Thursday AM

Forest school for Year 1 - Wednesday PM. If you are able to volunteer to go with the children to the Forest please contact your child's teacher as without a parent helper the children will not be able to go.

Swimming for year 2 - Wednesday PM. If you are able to walk to swimming with the children please contact your child's teacher. Thank you to those parents who do it on a regular basis; it is much appreciated.
