Foundation Stage

Welcome to EYFS, the Ducklings and the Chicks

Staff in our phase

Mrs Stone and  Mrs Barker are the class teachers in the EYFS.

.Mrs Skinner, Mrs Sackett  and Mrs Smith also help us with our learning.

How we learn

In the EYFS we are always busy.  We like to explore and learn through our play.  We love having visitors into our classroom and going on adventures and trips.

Our day includes a Phonics session, where we are learning about letters and the sounds that they make.  We use Bug Club phonics to help us.  We have  Number sessions, and we spend lots of time listening to stories and enjoying books.

During the day we spend time outside in the EYFS garden, travelling to far away places in our pirate ship, making a delicious lunch in our mud kitchen, construction castles, making waterways, climbing and  sometimes looking for minibeasts in the garden.  We love to be outside, no matter what the weather is like.  We always have our wellington boots and coats with us.

We take part in regular PE sessions and also visit Forest School on a regular basis.  In the woods we climb trees, explore the woodland, look after the animals that live there and have lots of time to work together. This term we have been building fires for cooking and keeping warm.

Our learning is supported by the adults and by our friends as we all learn together.

We have lots of fun and have lots of smiles.

What we are learning this term

Topic - In the Garden

During this topic we will be finding out all about what grows and lives in our gardens.  We will be on minibeast hunts, we will find out about bugs. We will be planting and growing and will be spending lots of time outside.

We will be exploring non-fiction books as we find out lots of facts.

This term we will be having some special visitors, who we will watch grow and we will have a very special visitor who will be bringing some friends for us to meet.

Foundation-Stage

We will be learning inside and outside every day, so we need to have wellington boots in school (These can stay in school) and we will all need a coat.

Bookbags need to come into school every day.

Everyone needs a drinks bottle with water in it – for the classroom.

Children in the EYFS do not need to bring in snacks or toys into school.

We will be taking part in weekly PE sessions and Forest School Sessions in our school woodland area.
