PSHE

PSHE at Gateway Primary School

At Gateway School the children’s needs and emotions are at the centre of how we deliver our PHSE lessons. We believe it is imperative for children to have the opportunity to share how they are feeling and listen to each other. We often base our lessons on the zones of regulations and our school values as we believe this helps promote essential life skills and encourages children to respect each other and work well as a team.

PSHE offers children and opportunity to:

  • Develop self-esteem and confidence having opportunities to share good qualities and personality traits, as well as being able to learn from times where they weren’t as successful.
  • Promote a growth mindset and an ‘I can’ attitude.
  • Be able to use the zones of regulation to determine how they are feeling, why they are feeling that way and what coping mechanisms are available to them.
  • Discuss and show our six school values and link those values to their everyday life in school, the wider community and the RAF.

PHSE lessons at Gateway allow children to:

  • Discuss and show our six school values and link those values to their everyday life in school, the wider community and the RAF.
  • Be open when communicating about their experiences and emotions
  • Understand the importance of keeping healthy.
  • Discuss and reflect on the impact of theirs and other actions.
