Miss Thorne's maths group have been studying shape this week. They have identified the properties of 3D shapes and made predictions based on these, for example we tried to work out how many edges a dodecahedron would have based on the number of faces. This then lead to making shapes, firstly out of a range of materials and then drawing nets and making shapes from card. The photos show children constructing shapes from clixi, multilink, playdough and straws. They have worked hard and now have a deeper understanding of the properties of shape.
Chicks have visitedTimeout Farm. This was our first visit to see Farmer Rob and all his animals. It was wet, muddy and cold but we smiled and helped out by feeding the animals. We were very excited about seeing Rudolph and made sure we gave him extra carrots ready for his big night. (We have been very good!). Thank you to all the parents who came along to help and the Chicks who were fabulous. See you next term Farmer Rob and see you soon Rudolph.
