Wake up Shake up

We run 'Wake up Shake up' every morning in the hall from 8.30am until 8.45am.

The children enjoy an active session with Mrs Collett and Mrs Shepherd and follow along to Jumpstart Johnny. Sessions are free and open to all KS1 and KS2 children. Your children just need to tick next to their name and we will accompany them to class once the session has finished.

We have a very active choir who meet after school on a Thursday.

The choir perform at a number of events throughout the year as well as sharing songs in school assemblies.

Buddy Club

Buddy Club is run by Mrs Collett and Mrs Chadwick every Tuesday lunchtime in the Bungalow. Our aim is to offer support to children who have a parent on long term detachment, by introducing them to other children in the same position.

We eat lunch together at 12 O'Clock in the Bungalow and then we do some fun things. We play games, use the net books or just chill out and chat. The children are given the opportunity to write letters, make cards and take photos to send to their parent and there is always time for them to talk about feelings if they wish to.

Mrs Collett invites any children she is aware have a parent away, so please speak to her if you would like to find out more.

Instrumental lessons

Children in Key Stage 2 at Gateway have the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument. We currently have visiting teachers for violin, piano and classical guitar, but others are possible if we have sufficient interest. If your child is interested please write a note to your class teacher for further information. Lessons are during the school day and fees are payable to Oxfordshire County Council.

Violin, Viola or Cello Lessons

Mrs Young our County Music Service string teacher has space in her timetable to start children on violin, viola or cello. The lessons start from £5.99 for a group of 3-4, but more children learning in a group can bring the costs down further. You do not have to have your own instrument as the music service can hire you one to start with. If your child is in year 1 or above and is interested in this offer you can register your interest (with no obligation) in two ways. Either register online at or let the school office know and they will pass your details on to Mrs Young. We hope to have some new students soon.
